On Thursday, October 28, 2021 , detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office executed search warrants on the Fill and Fly gas station and the Smokin’ Joe’s Tobacco Shop, both located in Stroudsburg Borough. The search warrants executed were to search for and seize illegal gambling devices, in this case video slot machines, which were being operated within both businesses.
Detectives with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office were assisted in the execution of both of these warrants by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control and Enforcement (PSP BLCE) and the Stroud Area Regional Police Department (SARPD).
Both of the search warrants were the result of a number of ongoing criminal investigations into illegal video gambling devices that are being operated in Monroe County.
As a result of the search warrants, nine (9) video gambling devices were seized from the Fill and Fly of Stroudsburg, four (4) video gambling devices were seized from Smokin’ Joe’s Tobacco Shop, and between both locations, a total of $36,974.00 in proceeds of illegal gambling were seized.
The search warrants for the illegal gambling devices at both locations are sealed to protect the integrity of the investigations.
