Death of Barrett Township infant ruled a homicide

Today, March 26, 2021, Mr. Thomas Yanac Jr. the duly-elected Coroner of Monroe County, has issued a Certificate of Death with respect to Ryann Bacchus, a female infant, aged two months, born on January 12, 2021.  The infant’s death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head inflicted upon her on or about March 19, 2021, in Barrett Township.  The manner of her death has been ruled homicide.

Coroner Yanac has provided a copy of the death certificate to the District Attorney’s Office. The trauma to the child’s head resulted in multiple skull fractures.  Currently, three people have been charged in relation to the child’s death. The charges include Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Homicide charges have not yet been filed against anyone.

Detectives of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, members of the Pennsylvania State Police, and the District Attorney’s Office are actively working on the case. The investigation into the circumstances of the child’s death continues. Further updates will be made available as warranted.
